Uno Minda Introduces Multi-Angle Dash Cameras for Indian Market
The automotive accessories manufacturer launches two new dash cam models featuring up to 4K resolution and triple-channel recording capabilities for comprehensive vehicle monitoring
Uno Minda Ltd., a tier-1 automotive supplier, launched two dash camera models for the Indian aftermarket on October 29, 2025. The 3-Way Car Dash Cam DVR and 2-Way Car Dash Cam DVR feature multi-channel recording capabilities with resolutions up to 4K Ultra HD.
The 3-way model, priced at Rs. 14,999, records simultaneously from three angles: 4K or 2K front-facing, 1K in-cabin, and 1K rear-facing cameras. The 2-way version, available at Rs. 12,999, captures 4K front and 1K rear footage. Both models include WiFi connectivity for smartphone integration and support microSD storage up to 256GB.
The devices incorporate gravity sensors that automatically preserve footage during sudden impacts, along with loop recording functionality that overwrites older files when storage capacity is reached. The cameras feature 3.39-inch LCD displays and wide-angle lenses ranging from 120 to 160 degrees to reduce blind spots.
According to Karna Markan, Head of Sales & Distribution (Accessories) at Uno Minda Ltd., the products aim to address safety concerns on Indian roads where accidents frequently result from blind spots and limited visibility. The launch comes as dash cameras gain acceptance among Indian consumers seeking documentation capabilities for accident claims and personal security.
The Indian market for dash cameras has expanded as vehicle ownership increases and drivers become more aware of in-car safety technology. Industry data indicates growing consumer interest in features such as multi-angle recording, wireless connectivity, and automatic incident detection.
Uno Minda, established in 1958, supplies automotive components to original equipment manufacturers and operates 72 manufacturing facilities. The company's aftermarket division offers products across 30 categories including switches, horns, lighting, and batteries. Its distribution network encompasses 1,400 business partners and 40,000 retailers covering 600 districts in India.
The dash cameras will be distributed through online and offline retail channels nationwide. Both models come with a one-year warranty and are constructed with ABS and PC materials. The 3-way model consumes 0.2W of power during operation.
The products enter a competitive segment where established electronics manufacturers and automotive accessory companies already offer similar recording devices. Price points for dash cameras in India typically range from Rs. 3,000 for basic models to Rs. 25,000 for premium units with advanced features.
Road safety remains a significant concern in India, which accounts for approximately 11% of global road accident fatalities according to government statistics. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways reported 461,312 road accidents in 2022, resulting in 168,491 deaths. Dash cameras provide documentation that can assist in insurance claims and legal proceedings following incidents.
The devices support Class-10 high endurance memory cards and offer dual power options. Installation requirements vary depending on vehicle type and existing electrical systems. Professional installation is recommended for optimal camera positioning and wiring integration.
Uno Minda exports products to Europe, USA, Latin America, Africa, Middle East, ASEAN, and SAARC regions through offices in Dubai and Indonesia. The company's aftermarket division services include 70,000 service points across its distribution network.
