Uber Partners With Sulabh International to Provide Free Toilet Access for Drivers Across Nine Indian Cities
The initiative, announced on World Toilet Day, will allow Uber drivers to use Sulabh-operated public toilets at no cost by showing their registration ID on the driver app.
Uber and Sulabh International have announced a partnership to provide Uber drivers with free access to public toilets across nine cities in India. The collaboration was announced on November 21, 2025, coinciding with World Toilet Day.
Under the arrangement, drivers can use Sulabh-operated toilet facilities without charge in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad. To access the facilities, drivers must present their Uber registration ID through the driver app.
The partnership includes provisions specifically for women drivers. Fifty Sulabh toilet complexes will be equipped with sanitary pad vending machines and incinerators, providing free sanitary products and disposal facilities.
Amit Deshpande, Head of City Operations at Uber India and South Asia, stated that access to sanitation is a basic need for drivers who spend much of their day on the road. Kumar Dilip, President of Sulabh International, said the initiative extends sanitation facilities to millions of drivers on the Uber platform.
Sulabh International is responsible for maintaining the facilities, including cleanliness and sanitation supplies. The organizations said the partnership supports the objectives of the Swachh Bharat Mission, the Indian government's sanitation campaign.
Uber began operations in India in 2013 and currently operates in 125 cities across the country. The company reports having facilitated over 3 billion trips and says more than 1.4 million Indians earn income through its platform. Sulabh International is an organization focused on sanitation and social reform in India.
