Nissan sells 470,584 units globally in January 2018; up 4.6%

The Japanese carmaker sold a total of 470,584 units globally. 88 percent of the total vehicle sales came from outside Japan.

Nissan's sales increased by 4.3 percent in 2017-18

Japanese carmaker Nissan has reported selling 470,584 units globally in January 2018, an increase of 4.6 percent YoY. The sales were primarily driven by overseas markets, which constituted around 88 percent of the total sales. 

The company reported that its global production volume has increased by 1.6 percent (4,767,899 units) in the April-Jan FY 2017-18, while the global sales increased by 4.3 percent (4,764,322 units) in the same period.

For January 2018, Nissan’s global production figure stood at 464,481 units, a rise of 0.5 percent as compared to the earlier year.

Nissan states it sold 4,764,322 units between April-January FY 2017-18 with reference to 4,569,724 for the same period last year. In comparison to other regions, Nissan enjoyed its highest sales figures from North America (159,088) and China (135,037).

The production numbers were largely driven by China with 1,328,057 units during April 2017- January 2018 as compared to 1,153,772 units in 2016-17. The figures from China were closely followed by a cumulative posting from Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, South Africa, Indonesia, Brazil, India, Egypt, Russia, France and South Korea.
