Honda Reveals V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype with World-First Electronic Compressor Technology
The Japanese manufacturer showcases innovative 900cc V3 engine prototype featuring electronically-controlled compressor at EICMA 2025 in Milan.
Honda has unveiled its V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype at the EICMA 2025 motorcycle show in Milan, Italy, introducing what the company claims is the world's first electronically-controlled compressor system for motorcycles. The prototype, revealed on November 6, represents the manufacturer's latest effort to deliver advanced performance technology in the premium motorcycle segment.
The prototype is built around a water-cooled 75-degree V3 engine with 900cc displacement, an evolution of the concept engine Honda showcased at EICMA 2024. The electronically-controlled compressor allows the engine to deliver responsive torque from low rpm by controlling intake air compression independently of engine speed. According to Honda, this technology enables the 900cc engine to achieve performance levels comparable to a 1200cc powerplant while maintaining improved environmental efficiency.
Honda's development team conceived the V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype under the "Non-Rail Roller Coaster" concept, aiming to balance what the company describes as "guaranteed thrill" with "reassuring peace of mind". The design incorporates asymmetrical side cowls and features the new "Honda Flagship WING" emblem, which will be gradually introduced across the brand's top-tier models beginning next year.
The prototype aligns with Honda's 2030 Vision initiative, which focuses on delivering "joy and freedom of mobility" through technological innovation. Honda stated that development will continue toward mass production, though the company has not announced specific timelines for commercial availability. The V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype represents Honda's ongoing efforts to create motorcycles that offer distinctive riding experiences through proprietary engineering solutions
