October 2025, with 143,713 units, turned out to be the best-ever month for retail sales of electric two-wheelers in India. Last month also saw Bajaj Auto, Ather Energy, Hero MotoCorp and Greaves Electric Mobility (GEM) achieve their highest monthly sales yet. Last month has also seen GEM’s cumulative retail sales cross the 250,000-units mark in India.
GEM completed its acquisition of the Coimbatore-based EV start-up Ampere Vehicles in November 2019. Retail sales data, sourced from the Vahan portal and encompassing e-2W deliveries of both Greaves Electric Mobility and Ampere Vehicles, puts the figure at 250,520 units at the end of October 2025 (see data table below).
Greaves Electric Mobility has posted strong 60% YoY growth in the first 10 months of CY2025. The 7,635 e-scooters sold in October are its highest monthly sales in the current calendar year.
Greaves Electric Mobility, the EV arm of Greaves Cotton which markets the Ampere brand of e-scooters, sold 7,635 units last month to mark handsome 90% YoY growth (October 2024: 4,015 units) and a 5% e-2W market share for October 2025, which are its highest monthly sales in the year to date. GEM’s cumulative January-October 2025 sales ((including Ampere Vehicles) at 46,109 units are a 60% YoY increase (January-October 2024: 28,818 units) and give it a 4% share of the total 10,63,450 e-2Ws sold by 200-plus OEMs in the past 10 months. It is to be noted that GEM’s best monthly sales were in November 2022 (12,449 units).
As the data table above reveals, GEM’s best year to date was CY2022 with 82,657 units albeit, for two subsequent years, sales fell by 19% (CY2023: 66,944 units) and by 46% (CY2024: 36,148 units), respectively. CY2025 though is witnessing a revival of demand for the e-2W manufacturer. Starting the year with 3,638 units in January, sales have seen sustained growth and hit a new high in October 2025. Cumulative January-October 2025 sales at 46,109 units are a smart 60% YoY increase (January-October 2024: 28,818 units). With still two months to go in this year, GEM is likely to wrap up CY2025 with total retails of around 60,000 units.
The company has three key e-scooter brands – Nexus (EX and ST), Magnus (Neo, EX, Grand) and Reo (80 and Li Plus). The flagship Nexus remains the best-selling product for GEM and Ampere Vehicles. Targeted at families, the Ampere Nexus has been designed and developed in-house at the Ranipet facility in Tamil Nadu. Equipped with a 3 kWh LFP battery and a 7-inch TFT touchscreen cluster, the Nexus has a claimed top speed of 93kph and a certified range of 136km. Sold in two variants, prices start at Rs 119,900 (ex-showroom).
The Magnus Neo, which has an ex-showroom price of Rs 84,999 (inclusive of subsidies), has a 95km range and a max speed of 65kph. The Reo 80, which is the most affordable GEM e-scooter and launched in April 2025 at Rs 59,900, travels 80km on a single charge. On September 18, Ampere Vehicles launched its newest product, the Magnus Grand family scooter priced at Rs 89,999 (ex-showroom).
What is also drawing buyers to GEM products is Ampere’s five-year, 75,000-km battery warranty on the Nexus and Magnus.
EXPANDING THE B2B BUSINESS
Along with sustained efforts to grow the personal electric mobility business, Greaves Electric Mobility is also making moves to expand its B2B fleet operations. In September, the company enhanced its partnership with TriEV, an electric fleet operator focused on last-mile delivery and green mobility solutions. TriEV currently operates over 850 Ampere Magnus SW S e-scooters, which has been developed specifically for B2B needs, across its hubs in Delhi and plans to expand this GEM fleet to over 1,500 units over the next few months.
In March this year, GEM had partnered with Indofast Energy, a 50-50 joint venture between IndianOil and Sun Mobility to enhance last-mile transportation for B2B fleets and ride-sharing services. The Ampere Magnus SW S, powered by Indofast Energy’s battery swapping technology, is designed for gig economy riders covering over 100km daily and aims to minimize downtime with quick battery swaps. Leveraging Indofast Energy’s rapidly growing battery-swapping network, customers can seamlessly replace depleted batteries with fully charged ones, reducing operational costs and enhancing efficiency. The Ampere Magnus SW S, which has 2.4 kW motor, has a payload capacity of 151kg and is equipped with IoT-enabled capabilities for efficient connectivity and improved fleet management solutions for operators.
