Escorts Kubota Tractor Sales Grow 27%, Construction Segment Declines 21% in August

Escorts Kubota Limited reported contrasting performance across its business divisions in August 2025, with tractor sales increasing 27.1% to 8,456 units while construction equipment sales declined 4.6% to 375 machines, reflecting differing market conditions in agriculture and infrastructure sectors.

Tractor Business Shows Robust Growth

Domestic tractor sales dominated the growth story, with 7,902 units sold domestically, representing a 26.6% year-over-year increase. Export sales performed even better, reaching 554 units for a 35.5% growth compared to August 2024.

The company attributed this strong performance to favorable rural conditions, including timely and widespread monsoon rains, strong water reservoir levels, and an early start to the festive season. Kharif sowing has exceeded last year's acreage, and the company anticipates potential GST rate reductions on tractors and farm machinery ahead of the peak festive season.

For the five-month period from April to August 2025, total tractor sales reached 46,191 units, up 5.0% from the corresponding period of the previous year.

Construction Equipment Faces Challenges

The construction equipment sector continues to face multiple challenges, including widespread monsoon conditions that have hampered construction activities, project execution delays, and the gradual absorption of cost increases due to new emission norms. These factors have contributed to subdued demand across key segments.

For the April-August period, construction equipment sales totaled 1,788 units, down 21.1% from 2,266 units in the same period last year.

Industry Outlook

Despite current challenges in the construction sector, the company remains optimistic about future prospects. With the monsoon season approaching its end, Escorts Kubota expects a gradual recovery in the construction equipment sector, driven by improved policy support and infrastructure momentum.

The agricultural equipment industry outlook remains positive, with robust sentiments and expectations of further demand improvement in the coming months, supported by favorable agricultural conditions and potential policy measures.

Escorts Kubota Limited, formerly known as Escorts Limited, is one of India's leading engineering conglomerates with eight decades of manufacturing experience. The company operates across two main divisions: Agri Machinery Business and Construction Equipment Business, focusing on agricultural mechanization and India's construction transformation.
